Your Questions Answered

Whether you're new to personal training, returning after illness or injury, or looking for specialist support with a medical condition, here are the answers to the questions Glen gets asked most often.

What makes GEPT different from a regular personal trainer?

Glen Eastick has been a qualified personal trainer since 2008 and specialises in areas that most personal trainers don't cover — rehabilitation, medical conditions, and GP exercise referral. Rather than just helping people get fit, Glen works with clients who are recovering from operations, managing long-term health conditions, or rebuilding strength after illness or injury.
Glen has personal experience of stroke recovery, having suffered a stroke himself caused by a hole in the heart, which required a heart procedure to correct. This lived experience gives him a unique understanding of rehabilitation that most personal trainers simply don't have.
Every session is completely bespoke, tailored to where you are right now and where you want to get to. No generic plans, no one-size-fits-all approach.

Can exercise really help with lower back pain?

Yes — and it's one of the most effective treatments available. Strengthening the muscles that support the spine reduces pressure on the back and can significantly reduce or eliminate pain over time.
Glen specialises in designing safe, progressive programmes specifically for people with lower back pain. He has helped many clients go from barely being able to move comfortably to living pain-free, active lives. If lower back pain is affecting your quality of life, exercise done correctly can make a life-changing difference.

What is GP exercise referral and do I qualify?

GP exercise referral is a scheme where your doctor recommends exercise as part of your treatment or recovery. Glen is fully qualified to work with clients referred by their GP, meaning he can work alongside your medical team to design a programme that is safe and appropriate for your specific condition.
If your GP has suggested exercise as part of your care, or you think it might help with a condition you're managing, get in touch to discuss whether a referral programme is right for you.

I'm recovering from a stroke — can you help?

Yes. Glen has personal experience of stroke recovery, having suffered a stroke himself caused by a hole in the heart, which required a heart procedure to correct. He has been through the full journey of rebuilding his own strength, coordination and fitness from the ground up.
This gives him a unique understanding of both the physical and emotional challenges of stroke recovery that most personal trainers simply don't have. Combined with his professional qualifications, Glen can support you with genuine empathy and real expertise. He has helped a number of clients recovering from stroke and brain trauma to gradually rebuild their fitness, confidence and independence.

Can you train people with Parkinson's, diabetes or epilepsy?

Yes. Glen has extensive experience working with clients managing a range of medical conditions including Parkinson's disease, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and epilepsy. Exercise can play a powerful role in managing symptoms and improving quality of life for people living with these conditions.
All programmes are designed with your specific condition and medical history in mind. Glen works carefully and progressively to ensure every session is safe, effective and appropriate for you.

I've had a hip or knee replacement — when can I start and can you help?

Many of Glen's clients come to him specifically to rebuild strength and mobility after hip or knee replacement surgery. The right time to start depends on your surgeon's advice, but Glen can work with you at whatever stage you're at — whether that's gentle early rehabilitation or rebuilding full strength and fitness.
He will liaise with your medical team where needed to ensure your programme is appropriate for your stage of recovery.

Do you only work in a studio or can you train me at home or online?

Glen is based in his own private bespoke studio between Chichester and Emsworth, but also offers home visits and fully online sessions. This makes GEPT accessible whether you're local to West Sussex or further afield, and whether mobility or transport is a barrier for you.
Small group training is also available for those who prefer to train with others in a private setting.

What does it cost?

Sessions are available at £37.50 per hour, with a block of 6 sessions for £225. Every client receives a fully personalised programme built around their individual goals, health history and current ability.
I haven't exercised in years and I'm nervous — is that okay?
Absolutely. Many of Glen's clients come to him having not exercised for a long time, or having had negative experiences with fitness in the past. Glen's approach is patient, supportive and entirely focused on you as an individual.
There is no judgement, no pressure and no one-size-fits-all approach. The first step is simply having a conversation about where you are and what you'd like to achieve. Many clients say that first conversation alone put them completely at ease.
